Navigating the Void, Patience and Surrendering

If you have ever felt the urge to withdraw from your life, felt like you were forever stuck or that you want to “burn it all down”, you are not alone. 

Welcome to the void, that quiet, and often very uncomfortable space between the death of the old and the rebirth of the new.

It’s where the seeds of change gestate, waiting for the right moment to emerge.

For many for us, the void can manifest as an absence of inspiration, a lack of movement, or even as a sense of nothingness.

A very simplified definition would be that the void encompasses cycles of feeling stuck, disconnected from your desired self, or facing moments of uncertainty.

This discomfort we feel in the void is a call to navigate and embrace it, and to do it in a way that is resourceful and sustaining to us. 

Navigating the Void

In this episode, we delve into the art of rebirth, exploring how to navigate the space between death and the emergence of something new. I share:

  • Taking our cue from Mother Nature as she continuously cycles
  • How our hypermasculine world implies being in the void is wrong
  • The discomfort we experience from shedding old identities
  • How to be more resourced as you navigate the void yourself


Dying Off to Be Reborn

The discomfort of the void often arises from shedding old beliefs, identities, or perspectives that no longer serve us. 

Just as we outgrow coats that once kept us warm, we must release the attachments to aspects of ourselves that hinder our growth. The tension between feeling unsafe and finding inner resources can be challenging, but it’s a natural part of this transformative process.

Our modern world, fixated on productivity and constant movement, often pushes us to avoid the void. We’ve been conditioned to believe that we must always be on the move, and when we encounter an absence of inspiration or creativity, we may perceive it as a personal failing. 

This disconnect from the wisdom of the void has led us to undervalue its role in our personal growth.

Nature’s Cycles as Our Guide

We only need to look at Mother Nature for insight into experiencing the void in our lives and the natural cycles of the seasons. In winter, nature slows down, seemingly halting all growth, yet beneath the surface, vital preparations are taking place. It’s during this stillness that Mother Nature gathers her strength, ready to birth new life when the time is right.

Similarly, we need moments of stillness and withdrawal to gather our inner resources, even though the modern world often discourages this practice. 

Embracing the void is about finding balance, and understanding that growth requires rest and reflection.

Three Insights for Navigating the Void

1. Surrender: Recognize that the death-rebirth cycle is part of bigger, natural cycles. Embrace it as an essential phase of personal evolution. By surrendering to the void, you open yourself to new possibilities to emerge and you build your capacity for resilience. 

2. Patience: Allow yourself to move at your own pace and resist the urge to rush forward. Patience in the void can lead to profound self-discovery. By embracing the discomfort and taking your time, you can find deeper clarity and insights.

3. Embodiment Practices: Engage in practices like journaling, nature walks, or moving meditation to help move through discomfort, expand your capacity, and increase your inner resources.

As you embark on your journey navigating the void, remember that it’s a natural part of your growth and transformation. By embracing it, you can cultivate a deeper connection with yourself and emerge stronger, wiser, and more radiant on the other side.

Ever wondered how to feel truly safe within yourself and embrace your authentic self? 

Well, you’re not alone! In our quest for self-actualization and deep connections, we often overlook the crucial aspect of finding safety within ourselves. 

Feeling safe within isn’t just about external circumstances; it’s about finding peace and comfort in your own internal world, no matter what’s happening around you. 

We’ve all made the mistake of thinking that feeling secure means everything around us has to be perfect. But that’s not the secret to true confidence!

It’s all about getting really intimate and vulnerable with what is going on in our internal world. 

The Paradox of Creating Safety Within

And so, here’s the twist – a primary condition for feeling safe within is a bit paradoxical.

Instead of trying to “feel safe,” we need to learn how to be comfortable with those not-so-cozy feelings, emotions and sensations within. 

It’s like hitting play on an action movie. Remember those moments when the action freezes? Well, that’s what happens when we suppress our feelings. 

When we abandon ourselves in the quest for external safety, our self-trust takes a nosedive, leaving us feeling disconnected and powerless.

By diving into those internal sensations and emotions, and staying with them, we allow ourselves to complete the action, freeing up our life force energy.

This newfound connection with ourselves allows us to hold space for our emotions and embrace our true, authentic selves.

Embracing inner safety is a transformative journey towards authenticity and fulfilment.

As we embark on this path, we unlock the door to a fulfilling life, rooted in our truth, pleasure, joy, and satisfaction.

Embodied inner work is by far the most transformative practice I have ever come across.

By connecting with our bodies and accessing the wisdom within, we can break free from self-sabotaging patterns. We can align ourselves with our authentic truth, and cultivate a sense of empowerment that flows into every aspect of our lives.

Embodied inner work, as the name suggests, involves engaging with our internal world and experiences through our bodies. 

Our bodies hold a wealth of information that encompasses our mental, emotional, physical, and energetic planes. 

By tapping into this wellspring of knowledge, we gain deep insights into ourselves, our worldview, and the nature of our relationships. 

Breaking Free from Limiting Patterns

Many of us find ourselves caught in self-sabotaging patterns that hinder our personal growth.

 However, when we wholeheartedly connect with our authentic selves and embrace our inner truth, we can begin to dismantle these patterns. 

Embodied inner work enables us to unearth the obstacles that hold us back, unravelling the layers of rubble, debris, and nonsense accumulated over the years. 

As we clear away these barriers, we also discover the hidden gems and precious aspects of ourselves that we may not have known existed.

Living an Empowered Life

Embodied inner work helps to establish a deep connection with our inner truth. We gain a sense of agency, allowing us to make choices that align with our values. 

This newfound empowerment ripples through every area of our lives. It influences our parenting style, intimate relationships, friendships, and overall approach to life. 

By embracing embodied inner work, we cultivate a sense of sovereignty, self-confidence, and self-trust that guides us towards a more authentic and purposeful existence.

The pinnacle of living is embodied wholeness, where our hearts, bodies, and minds integrate harmoniously.

The journey of healing our lives through embodying our sacred divine feminine energy is an essential part of our personal growth.

By embracing this path, we begin to dismantle outdated beliefs and patterns, making way for our true selves to emerge. 

It is a journey of self-acceptance, where we learn that there is nothing wrong with us and nothing that needs fixing. We are enough just as we are.

Often, we fail to recognize that the challenges and obstacles we encounter are integral parts of our journey towards embracing the divine feminine. 

By understanding this, you’ll realize that you are not alone or “crazy.” There is nothing inherently wrong with you that needs fixing.

 In the past, I believed I needed to change certain aspects of myself to be deemed lovable, acceptable, or good enough. 

However, I have now transcended those limiting beliefs. While occasional doubts may resurface, my journey of healing and self-discovery has revealed the truth that I am enough. 

And not only have I discovered this truth, but I have also begun to embody it.

The Theme of Death and Rebirth

One of the prevalent themes in the path of the sacred feminine is the concept of death and rebirth. Similar to the menstrual cycle experienced by women, we go through cycles of shedding what no longer serves us and embracing the new. 

This theme extends beyond the physical realm and manifests in various aspects of our lives.

To embark on this inner work, we must heal our authentic connection with ourselves, allowing us to present our truest selves and ultimately heal the world through our interactions.

This transformative process of shedding and letting go may be painful, uncomfortable, and vulnerable. But if we view it as an inherent part of our natural cycle rather than something “wrong,” we can better navigate our journey.

Reclaiming All Parts of Ourselves

In a patriarchal society, the feminine aspects of ourselves have often been neglected and suppressed. As women, it is crucial to reclaim all parts of ourselves, including our wild woman and inner child. 

Our wild woman represents our untamed, authentic self, unafraid to speak her truth and express her love fiercely. Our inner child carries the wounds that need healing, and by connecting with our feminine truth, we create a safe space for our inner child to be loved and witnessed.

Learn the Art of Setting and Keeping Healthy Boundaries

By establishing boundaries, we send a powerful message to ourselves that we are deserving of protection and that our needs matter. 

Upholding healthy boundaries and assertively expressing them to the world not only increases our self-worth and self-esteem, but also allows us to reveal our authentic selves, communicate our availability, and express our requirements for thriving. 

Boundaries extend beyond mental and physical limits to encompass emotional boundaries and what we are willing to accept or tolerate in relationships. It’s essential to understand that boundaries encompass more than simply setting limits and saying no; they reflect how we value our emotional, physical, mental, and energetic needs.

To embark on the journey of creating boundaries, we can approach it from two angles: embodiment and mindset. 

Embodiment involves being in tune with our bodies and recognizing when something feels off. By becoming more skilled at using our bodies to guide us, we can identify when our boundaries are being violated and when it’s time to establish new ones. 

On the other hand, mindset is about having a positive perspective regarding our self-worth, rights, and what we are available for. When we cultivate a clear mindset aligned with our needs, desires, and tolerances, upholding limits becomes easier.

Know yourself

The more we know ourselves and deepen our relationship with ourselves, the more embodied we are and the more authentic we become in navigating the world. This authenticity allows us to thrive, express ourselves fully, and trust that our decisions and presence reflect the best versions of ourselves.

Self Abandonment:  Stop Abandoning Your True Self

Self abandonment is what happens when dismiss your own thoughts, feelings and values.

You dismiss the things that are important to you. 

And you dismiss your own boundaries. 

When you put the needs of your own needs (all.the.time), you know you’re doing it. 

Or when you value the opinions of others more than you value your own opinion, and so you live your life in a way that pleases others.

So when we self abandon,  we are not being authentic.   We are not being true to ourselves. 

It is a learned response and coping mechanism that filters into all areas of our lives and quite simply it’s an exhausting way to live.  

Usually we develop these coping mechanisms in our childhood. 

When your emotional needs haven’t been met as a child, then you find ways to compensate for that. 

And then you carry that with you into adulthood.

Now this is a problem.

It’s really hard to live an authentic and sovereign life where you feel fulfilled and have meaningful relationships if you keep on dismissing yourself.

Self Abandonment:  Stop Abandoning Your True Self

Here’s the secret to healing self abandonment. 

You need to heal the relationship with yourself first. 

You need to see that you are worthy. You need to see that you are lovable. You need to see that you are good enough just as you are, and that you don’t need others to validate you.

You don’t need others to approve of you. 

And when you can come from this place where you are authentically connected to your own self-worth, it completely changes the way that you show up in relationships. 

You begin to feel confident enough to start asking for what you need. 

It also changes the way that you are able to assert yourself when establishing your boundaries and saying what you are available for and what you are not available for.
