Your brain works best when it’s not overly stressed. Learn how clutter can overwhelm you and how to make the mental shift to managing your life better.
To create space in your life for something new, you need to literally make space both physically and mentally.
By clearing clutter and learning some new behaviors, you can let your brain focus on what’s important instead of being distracted and overwhelmed by your clutter!
How to clear your clutter
1. Start from where you are
It’s challenging to deal with a lifetime’s habits overnight. Instead, start where you are and commit to the simple action of finishing things. Put things away, clear the table after dinner. Make your bed as soon as you get up. Don’t leave things for later.
2. Declutter one room at a time
Pick a room, and start there. Give yourself a reasonable deadline, and remember baby-steps gets it done.
3. Get rid of duplicates
You might find that you have loads of duplicates. Keep the items that are still in good condition and sell or donate the rest. And the things that are stained, full of holes and unusable…toss it in the bin!
