Spirituality gives meaning and purpose to our lives and to me a spiritual practice then is any conscious activity or action that you undertake in an attempt to get closer to God and to foster that connection with God or Source or All -That-Is spiritual practices are things that we do every day. It is a way of life. It’s not an activity that you do first thing in the morning and then you forget about it for the rest of the day but it’s really about a way of being. It’s about a way of becoming where you take these things that you practice. You create habits out of this and these habits you take with you into your everyday life now. Spiritual practices can improve our lives because every time that we foster this connection, that we deepen this connection to God, we are in fact raising our own positive emotions because you generate a feeling of well-being and wellness and peace and content. When we, when we access our God energy, when we connect to Source and this is then the ultimate aim of a spiritual practice. Isn’t it? It’s to create that sense of, of wellness and that sense of peace. When we talk about our emotions, you’ll find that the emotions are laid on a scale and we have the lower vibrational emotions at the bottom and the more positive our emotions become such as joy and gratitude and bliss, the higher our vibrations become and I’ve created a video last week where I spoke about the five mindset shifts that we can implement to begin, to create a different vibration for ourselves and I’ll put that video up here and it will also be linked in the description below. Through our spiritual practice, we then foster these positive emotions which contributes to our sense of well-being but not only that a spiritual practice has the effect of connecting us deeper to our higher self through our higher selves. Through that connection of the higher selves, we can begin to remember who we are, we can begin to remember that we are not small. Little human beings living a struggling life but that we are indeed our true nature is that of love of unconditional love. Now, what happens is the ego comes in and the ego tries to convince us that we are surrounded by lack, that we are surrounded by scarcity. The ego lives on fear. It teaches us that, that we need to judge and criticize and protect ourselves in order to survive and through these spiritual practices, the effect is that we begin to break down the hold that the ego mind has over us and in turn, we become to stand stronger in our own inner power and in our own divine connection to source energy. When we start to live like this as a way of life, as a way of being then whenever hardship faces us or whenever you know a challenge comes across our path or whenever we get into a struggle or a conflict situation with a person, it is a lot easier for us to come back to our center. If we have cultivated this connection with our higher self and with God through our spiritual practices. So, the first practice that I have to share with you is that of meditation and this is such a crucial, crucial, crucial skill to develop and it really is a skill because the more you do it, the better you become at it. Now, the reason why meditation is such an important spiritual practice is because through meditation, you hear your intuition. You get access to all of the information that the universe wants to share with you. You get your insights. You get your answers and it only works through meditation because for the rest of the times in our lives, we’re usually too busy. Our thoughts are occupied with all kinds of different things, you know. You’ve got mind chatter going on you. You have so many things going on that there’s not enough quietness or silence is probably the better word, there’s not enough silence for any messages to come in the best way that I can explain to you. How to meditate is to simply close your eyes and go within. So, that means put your attention in your center and when you notice that you are thinking about your to-do list or you are thinking about when you need to pick up the kids from school or what you need to make for dinner or what you have to say in this presentation later today, then, simply bring your attention back into your center and then you’ll notice again that you start thinking about all of these things that you do and as soon as you realize that you are thinking about these things, then you simply and calmly bring your attention back to your center and it might be that. This is the only thing that you do for the entire time that you’re sitting down to meditate but that is how we build that skill of meditating. So, that then is the first practice when you begin to develop this ability to go within. That is when you access your intuition, that is when you get messages, that is when you begin to receive symbols and information from the universe and from your guides from God about decisions that you need to make or paths that you need to choose. So, we get our answers by becoming quiet. The second spiritual practice is prayer. We have a whole team out there waiting to hear from us and the way that we communicate with him, the way that we speak to god, the way that we speak to our spirit guides, the way that we speak to our angels is through prayer. Now, you don’t need to dress in a certain way or have your body in a certain position or do certain things with your hand. You simply talk. You can speak out loud. You can speak silently in your head, you can just think the thoughts but prayer is how we talk about our wants and our desires and our fears and we lay this onto an energy and a power that is greater than ourselves. Through prayer, we begin to learn that we don’t have to carry all of our stresses and all of our burdens by ourselves and just this meditation is where we receive information. Prayer is how we give information. Now, I can remember as a little girl, I always used to think that you had to pray in a certain way and it had to be very formal and my prayers usually started off with all of the things that I did wrong and that I was begging for forgiveness, for but prayer is not like that. The way that I understand pray today is that it is really an expression of my heart. It’s an expression of what’s going on for me and how I’m feeling and it’s really like you would talk to a loved one where you have a good conversation about the things that are laying on your heart and that are important to you. The third spiritual practice that I have for you is to do some energy clearing. I’ve spoken about this in some of my videos before as well and I will link some of them up here and you will find videos in the description box below as well now. Our energy field every day as we go around and about our business as we interact with other people, as we have our own thoughts and our belief systems and our processes filtering through our experiences, our energy body collects dirt. Let’s call it that and this dirt can kind of accumulate and it builds up and if we are not careful, these get stuck and they contribute to keeping our belief system strong and our belief system in place now. What this accumulation of energy that we build up also does is it brings our chakras out of balance? Now, your chakras are the energy centers in your body that not only relate to some of your physical organs but they also are responsible for your emotional and your physical well-being. So, they’re responsible for the exchange of energy. Energy coming in and energy going out. So, the way that I like to clear my chakras and my energy field is by simply imagining that I’m breathing in a white light into each of the energy centers. I breathe in and then like a little swoosh, I just give it a cleaning out and then I exhale all of the energy that is ready to be released and as I exhale, I visualize that it goes down into my grounding cord and into the earth. So, there really are very different techniques that you can use and experiment and play around with. You’ll also find a lot of guided meditations here on YouTube. So, just search for clearing the chakras. I’ve also created a guided meditation which I’ll link for you in the description below. All right, now moving on to the fourth spiritual practice. Fourth, now the fourth practice is to practice gratitude daily. Gratitude and I like to do my gratitude list. First thing in the morning and the reason for this is I believe that as soon as you wake up before you’ve had time to kind of process your day and your life and what you need to do if you just sit down and write down the five things that you are grateful for that immediately shifts you into an energy of abundance. It shifts your whole vibrational state because when you are thinking in terms of gratitude, when you are grateful for the things in your life and you, you, feel that abundance it’s very difficult thing to fall back into a scarcity mindset or a mindset of lack. So, get yourself a little journal and begin your mornings by writing down five things that you’re grateful for. It’s a much healthier and, and, more beneficial way than starting your day scrolling through social media. For example, all right. And now moving on to my last spiritual practice. The spiritual practice number five that’s going to help you raise your vibration and that is to create awareness to begin to develop awareness around your thoughts and really this is to begin, to discern. Am I speaking from ego or am I speaking from my higher self? Who is in charge? Who’s busy running the show right now? Now, the thing is when we are an ego mindset, you’ll notice that your, your, thoughts are all tinged with, with fear and scarcity and lack and judgment and criticism and when you are in this space of fear of anxiety of, of, feeling the need to control then it’s very difficult to start making decisions based on trust because all your actions are driven by fear in ego mind. We notice all of the things that are wrong with ourselves, wrong with our lives, wrong with the people in our lives in ego mind. We notice all of the things that we don’t have and every time that we notice, that we are an ego mind. We create that gap for the higher self to come through. We create that gap for ourselves. To, to, connect to our true nature, to connect to who we really are at our core, I always think of these practices as a way of becoming. It’s like a muscle, we develop. It’s a new skill set that we learn and some days you’ll find that it is very easy and you are in flow and everything is beautiful and then other days not so much but it is then on those days that you can forgive and have compassion and self-understanding and most of all be grateful to yourself for continuing to becoming a better version of who you are?
