When learning how to clear emotional energy blockages, it is helpful to begin by understanding the nature of energy blocks.
The best way to explain this is to remind you that we are made of energy. The world around us and the universe is made up of energy.
In order for everything to work optimally, the energy has to flow freely.
Any type of trauma or distressing thing that happens to us that hurts our feelings or that makes us feel unsafe or not heard is going to leave an emotional wound.
These emotional wounds, if not resolved then become blockages in our energy body. They become wired into your subconscious mind.
This is where you will then begin to manifest unwanted behaviour or unwanted patterns and ways of thinking.
These energy wounds or emotional wounds will then influence the way that you experience the world.

Change starts within
So, it makes sense that if you want to change the way that you experience the world, and if you want to change who you are being, you do so by clearing the energy body from these emotional energetic blockages.
The challenge is, we don’t always know that we’ve got these emotional blockages!
It’s not something that you can see with your eyes.
Sometimes these blockages can manifest as a physical disease, and here I’m thinking of myself for example.
I have an underactive thyroid and I believe it comes from me learning from a young age that it wasn’t safe to speak my mind, I had to keep quiet and do what I was told.
A lot of the things then that happen to us can cause physical manifestations in our bodies, such as a physical illness.
It can also be seen in the way that we relate to other people in relationships or the way that we manage our finances or the way that we always sabotage ourselves when it comes to achieving our goals.
Benefits of clearing emotional energy blockages
What you’re going to notice once you begin to regularly clear your energy body from those emotional energy blockages, is an overall improvement in your sense of well-being.
It might be that you can’t particularly put your finger on something specific, but in general you are going to feel lighter and more at ease in the world.
You might find that you feel more in the flow, and so it’s going to be easier for you to go after your goals.
You will have more confidence in stepping out of your comfort zone, and you will feel more connected to the truth of who you are.
Make it a daily ritual
Just like you have to clean your physical body a lot you have to do it hopefully at least once a day, you also need to clear your energy body a lot!
If you think about it, we get “dirty” from all of the things that we engage with every day and it’s important to clear this as much as we can so that we can keep that stream of energy flowing strong.
3 Techniques to clear emotional energy blockages.
Here are my three techniques for clearing emotional blockages:
- feel the feels
- run your energy
- tap it away
Feel your feels
Often, whenever we are faced with an uncomfortable feeling or whenever we get triggered our instinctive reaction is either to lash out or to distract ourselves.
You either lash out at the person who has triggered this emotion in you, or you push it down and you suppress it and pretend that it’s not there.
I’m sure you can agree with me this isn’t best way in which to handle this!
Instead, we want to feel all of our feelings.
There’s a reason why you were triggered. There’s a reason why you are feeling like this.
When you feel into what it is that you’re feeling, it’s almost like you’re turning a searchlight onto that emotion or stuck energy.
When we feel our feelings or we lean into our feelings the act of us observing them and witnessing them causes them to begin to dissolve.
When you notice that you are being triggered or when you have the awareness of undesirable emotion, see where do you feel it inside your body.
Once you’ve located it in your body then look to see or feel if it has a shape. See or sense if it has a certain form or a certain color.
The more familiar you can become with this feeling the less power it is going to have over you.
A note here is to take care that you don’t get stuck in analytical mode.
This is when, once you become aware of this undesirable emotion, you try and figure out why it’s there and why you are feeling like this, or who caused you to feel like this.
Analytical mode is the ego’s way to keep you stuck.
As long as you’re trying to analyze and trying to put the blame onto the reason why you are feeling this way you’re not really resolving anything.
Instead, be present to the feeling and do your best not to analyze it.
Running your energy
Running your energy is where you pull up energy from the earth running it through your chakras.
Begin by sitting down with your feet flat on the ground.
Imagine that from the base of your spine at your root chakra, you’ve got a grounding cord or a tree that goes into the earth with roots that connects you deep into the earth.
Once you’re grounded, imagine that you open the chakras located on the soles of your feet and that you pull earth energy in through your feet.
Now, you run that energy from your feet, through your legs into your base chakra.
From your base chakra, let the energy run up through your center channel and through each chakra.
Have the intention to push out all of the unwanted, unhelpful, and stuck energy and emotions that you don’t need anymore with the earth’s energy.
Let this earth energy push out everything through the top of your head at your crown chakra, and then like a fountain, let it fall back into the earth through your grounding cord.
Tap it out
The final technique that you can use to clear your emotional energy blockages is EFT Tapping.
You start by making a list of things that have happened in your life that is still bothering you.
Try to find between 20 – 30 things on this list.
Now, you will use EFT tapping to systematically begin to tap down your intensity on each of these things on your list until you don’t have an emotional response anymore.
The ultimate self-care
Clearing emotional energy blockages using these simple techniques, is the ultimate type of self-care.
You’re moving from autopilot mode where life lives through you into a space of conscious living and conscious awareness where you choose how you are going to co-create your life.
From this space, you choose how you are responding to the things that happen to you in your life and in my mind that is a very powerful way of being!
