Today we’re going to be talking about energy and specifically about your chakras and how you can balance your chakras using positive affirmations, to boost your sense of well-being.
We are energetic beings and in a time like this where collectively all of us are affected by world events and all of us are collectively experiencing great stress and uncertainty our energy bodies are also affected.
When our sense of safety and belonging and the things that are familiar to us are threatened the foundation of our world is pulled out from underneath us.
In times like this, it is completely normal to feel frustrated and anxious but we don’t want that frustration, that sense of helplessness and overwhelm to become our overriding emotion because that leaves you in a place of disempowerment. We’re looking for things that can empower us and allow us to be creative and attract better things into our life and by using your energy body you can support yourself to do that.
The Chakra System
We are going to be looking at the chakras and I’ll just tell you a little bit about the chakras for anyone who’s not familiar with them.
The chakras system is a way for us to understand our bodies and it is a way for us to understand ourselves and our energy state.
So chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel and it refers to energy centers that we have in our body.
There are hundreds of these but I’m just going to be talking about the seven main ones.
Now, if you imagine that you’ve got a meridian a highway running through the center of your body there are seven points along this meridian and they are called chakras.
Your chakra moves life force energy through your body and when our chakras are balanced all parts of our body mind and spirit receives the life force that it needs.
I find an easy way to think about this is to imagine that all the meridians and energy lines that run through our bodies are like highways and they all come together in certain areas.
When Chakras Are Blocked
When there is a congestion or when there is a blockage then these certain areas or energy centers don’t get what they need and the result is that you have a chakra that is either blocked or overactive.
The problem with this is that it can cause all kinds of disruptions in our lives when our energy centers are blocked.
We can end up feeling victimized and uninspired. We can blame others for our situation.
You might feel hatred and anger towards your body, have feelings of being stuck, feeling aimless and without purpose and then also strong feelings of anxiety and worthlessness.
When your chakras are open then you experience more flow creativity and a greater sense of well-being.
I’ve looked at some of the things that we can do because there are practical things that you can do to help balance and open these energy centers, which I’ll share with you below.
We Are All Affected
I’m assuming that almost everyone in the world’s energy body or chakra system is in disarray because we are in a time of crisis.
We are facing a global pandemic and that does have an effect on us, so I’m not going to specifically go into what it looks like when a certain chakra is unbalanced because I think all of us will be experiencing these things anyway.
Balance Your Root Chakra
Your root chakra is foundational to your sense of safety and security. It’s connected to your lower body your feet and your legs.
Ways in which you can balance this is by connecting with the element of Earth so that means going for a walk outside, eating root vegetables, wearing the color red and then also stretching and strengthening your legs.
Two affirmations that you can use for the root chakra are
- I am safe
- I am grounded.
Balance Your Sacral Chakra
Your sacral chakra is connected to your sense of creativity, sexuality, and playfulness. It is linked to the sexual organs and sacrum.
Things that you can do, is to dance and to swing and to move your hips, connect to your feelings through journaling and wearing the color orange.
The sacral chakra is connected to the element of Water so even things like going for a swim taking a shower or taking a bath will help you.
Two affirmations that you can use for your sacral chakra are
- I allow my creativity to flow through me
- I honor my body and my needs
Balance Your Solar Plexus Chakra
Then we move onto the solar plexus chakra. This is the seat of your personal power and growth and it’s connected to your abdomen your mid-back and your side body.
The element connected to this is the element of Fire and meditating while looking at a candle can be very supportive. Also to you go outside and get some sunshine on your skin and wearing the color yellow.
Two affirmations to use
- I release the need to control
- I have everything I need within
Balance Your Heart Chakra
Moving up to the heart chakra, your heart chakra is connected to your heart and it is the seat for unconditional love and our sense of well-being.
Your heart chakra is associated with the air, getting fresh air will support you, also practicing self-love and self-care and really nurturing yourself.
Two affirmations that are helpful
- I forgive myself for past mistakes
- Today I choose joy
Balance Your Throat Chakra
Your throat chakra is located near your thyroid. The throat chakra is related to how we communicate, how we express ourselves, and how we show up in the world.
Ways to support your throat chakra is to listen to beautiful music, to wearing the color turquoise and to drink tea or lemon water
Use these two affirmations
- I express myself freely
- I trust my voice and speak my truth
Balance Your Third Eye Chakra
Now we move on to the third eye chakra which is located literally between your two eyes, and it is related to our intuition and our connection to the Spiritual World.
The third eye chakra can be supported by wearing the color blue and by writing your dreams down in a journal. Something else to do which can support you is to listen to your body.
Listen to your intuition rest when you need to rest. Eat when you need to eat, take it easy and relax when you have to and push yourself when you have to.
Two affirmations to use are
- I trust my intuition
- I am calm and clear
Balance Your Third Eye Chakra
Now moving on to the crown chakra which is located on the top of your head and that is connected to your spiritual awakening.
You can support your crown chakra by wearing the color purple, by engaging in a meditation practice. You can do some inverted yoga poses like child’s pose or headstands as well as making it a habit to write in a gratitude journal.
Two affirmations that you can use here are
- All is well in my world
- I am at peace
Use Your Energy Body To Support You
We are energetic beings and as much as we are experiencing physical and mental stress right now we can use our energy body to boost us and support us and give us a greater sense of well-being.
It’s going to help us feel calmer, which will enable us to better deal with the challenges that we’re facing.
That’s a much more powerful place to be, than coming from a mindset where we’re feeling completely out of control, anxious and overwhelmed by the state of the world which we can’t do anything about.
The best thing that we can do is focus on how we respond and react to the things that are happening to us.
