I used to always want to control everything. And while I’m by no means cured, in today’s video I want to talk to you about learning to surrender and how to let go the need to try and control everything around you.
We constantly create expectations about our world. We attach ourselves mentally and emotionally to our expectations. And then we try and control our world so that our reality matches our expectation.
HOW TO GO LET THE NEED TO TRY AND CONTROL EVERYTHING AROUND YOU
Recognising this attachment is sometimes all you need to have it dissolve. But if not, here are some other pointers for you.
1. Become aware of your “Should Be Like This” thinking
We build beliefs about how we think things should be. When it works out differently we get into a huff. We come from reaction and try to control our environment even more.
2. Surrender to what is
When you surrender to what is, your energy shifts and so your experience starts shifting. To surrender doesn’t mean that you become passive. It means that you stop fighting yourself, the world and the Universe.
3. Realise that the need to control is rooted in fear
We are afraid of how things might turn out if we don’t control it. When you focus on what you can influence, instead of trying to control everything around you, you grow your own power. In that power you act smarter and you are more resourceful and resilient. You start living consciously and on purpose.
